As a stunning beach city in Vietnam, Nha Trang has put itself on the map with resorts, islands, bar, sed food and chill atmosphere. However, the under-sea Nha Trang also shows the potential, definitely worth for Free diver, Scuba diver and Snorkeler to explore!
• Diving Spot: Hòn Mun (Mun Island) • Diving Center: Vietnam Active — Diving & Snorkeling(Service include all kind of diving)
Despite Vietnam starts to recover from crazy rate of exchange storm since the end of the war, but Vietnam remains perfect value for North Asian visitors, not even say for the tourists from West.
Not just hotel and transportation, the cost a diving tour (including equipment) will also impress visitors.
“Mun Island” is a spot need to transport by boat. Comparing the ship trip to my favorite diving spot in Taiwan-Lan Yu, shipping to Mun Island just like driving on a road.
The boat will cross area with many little islands, thanks for the terrain, the wave in this area is peaceful like lake. While fluctuating on the surface, you will notice that you’re surrounded by lots of mountains, definitely not a common scene of diving.
Generally speaking, you don’t have to expect a nice visibility under the sea when the spot is close to beaches.
Unexpectedly, the area demonstrates excellent visibility.
The area experienced few days raining before my trip, and there’s a cloudy weather while I was diving, but I still got a wild vision (20M~30M VIS) under sea that day.
There’s 120 square kilometers around Mun Island, more than 350 species of corals can be observed, some fishes, sea hares, shrimps and crabs which are not found in Taiwan also can been seen.
Be careful of those Diadema sea urchin while diving, they are poisonous!
A little far away from Mun Island, there are two underwater caves at 15M depth place. Visitors can cross the cave and say hello to the fish family living inside!
There still are some deeper spot near Mun Island, you can discuss with your coach if you want to challenge those places.
Nha Trang is a city with quite a lot of tourists from various countries, also many Russians living in this city, like my diving instructor — Andrei is from Russia.
Dive centers usually share the boat fee, so there will be scuba diving, freediving, and snorkeling guests on board at the same time. I remember that on the day I went, there were people from Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Russia, US, Vietnam, Germany… on board, everybody were so open mind and willing to share travel stories during the break time. Really was a great experience!
Visited on a cloudy day was enough for me to write an essay! Nha Trang must be more beautiful on a sunny day. Let’s go to Nha Trang for a diving trip!
